Honeymoon Space Shuttle Offers Honeymoon Suites into Orbit

November 16th, 2010

After mesmerizing us with his ‘Flying Yacht’ and ‘Sailing aircraft’, here comes Yelken Octuri yet again. This time the air bus interior designer has come up with something that seems an inspiration from sci-fi fiction: the Honeymoon space shuttle concept. The concept has been designed for the people who want a Space Shuttle for a weightless honeymoon in space.

The fanciful futuristic Aircraft contains five capsules that are dropped at an altitude of 200km. Each capsule would features a specific mechanism to keep the bodies together and two 180 degree reclining seats that can be converted into a double bed. Each capsule hosts a couple for a 48-hours flight and when the flight is finished, each capsule follows an automatic and autonomous return flight.

The Honeymoon space shuttle has a wingspan of 42.6 meters, a length of 66.9 meters and is 14.8 meters high. The honeymoon aircraft not only gives wings to your imagination but also gives a suite in the space to enjoy the pleasures of microgravity lovemaking. Other amenities included in the suit are floor and a panoramic roof to enable passengers see clear points of reference, storage space on the each side of the bedhead, two hatches in front of the bed wherein one gives access to the toilets and other to the inside of the capsule and many more.

For Eid Al-Fitr, Scientific Center invites visitors to travel to space

September 8th, 2010

The Scientific Center releases the latest IMAX 3D film “Hubble 3D” starting from the first day of Eid Al-Fitr as announced by the Chairman and Managing Director of the Scientific Center Mijbil Almutawa.
Almutawa said that the film is the latest IMAX films, and takes the viewer into outer space and experiences flight at altitudes of 600 km from the Earth’s surface in a task of great importance aimed at reforming the Hubble Space Telescope. “Hubble 3D” reveals to the viewer the difficult process of repairing the Space Telescope and the efforts made by the astronauts in order to accomplish this complex task of paramount importance, and exercises they have fought before departure of the task carried out in 2009, as the atmosphere of the planet is full of challenges, including the lack of gravity, and extreme cold. The work started on this task in 2005 and aims to extend the life of the telescope, which began orbiting Earth in 1990 and completes a full cycle around the Earth every 96 minutes. Since its inception, the telescope captures high-resolution images of the planets, stars and galaxies that are not picked up from ground which takes photos of galaxies as far as 12 billion light-years away.  To get the best shots in 3D on this mission, astronauts have been trained on how to use IMAX cameras in addition to some basic rules in photography and film training which lasted eight months. The camera lens on the Hubble captures a new collection of stunning high-definition images, such as a huge column of newborn stars in the cloud present in the nebula (Karina), and the death of an exciting star is an exquisite butterfly. The cameras also capture the stars in infrared and ultraviolet to see the age of the star from the temperature.
Almutawa said that the film carries an environmental message which is very important, which is that we must preserve our fragile environment, as the Earth is the only planet known to be fit to live.

Visitors can book their tickets to “Hubble 3D” or any other facilities via Scientific Center’s website www.tsck.org.kw or call 1 848 888 for more information.

IMAX film kicks-off the summer in The Scientific Center

June 23rd, 2010

Chairman and Managing Director of the Scientific Center, Mijbil Almutawa, announced the launch of the film “Arabia 3D” on the giant IMAX screen in the Scientific Center from Thursday, June 24. Mr. Almutawa added that this film is the first 3D film to be filmed in the region. The film “ARABIA 3D” is based on the book “The Kingdom”, written by the British author Robert Lacey, which was released in 1981 and enjoyed a very popular following, having been translated into several languages including French, Italian, Spanish, and Japanese. The book details the emergence of Saudi Arabia. The events of September 11, 2001 played a major role in working to produce this film as a result of a misunderstanding of the Islamic religion and the customs and traditions of the Gulf population.

The film shows the impact left by the Muslim scholars in history, during the golden age of Islam, as well as customs and traditions of the inhabitants of the Arabian Peninsula and the impact that these habits make on the present. The film discusses the efforts made for opening up the educational revolution and production to keep the pace with global developments in this area.

ARABIA 3D combines footage captured by cameras for 3D, with impressive computer graphics that have been designed specifically for this film. This met with applause from all audiences in IMAX Theaters in the United States and London and received special attention by international dignitaries, including Prince Charles, Prince of Wales.

Visitors to the Scientific Center can book their tickets to see “ARABIA 3D” or any other attraction via Scientific Center’s internet site www.tsck.org.kw or to call 1 848 888. IMAX will only be showing “ARABIA 3D” until the third of July, and then the film will be merged with the rest of the films that are currently showing.
