Improve your Google rankings with second-tier links

May 1st, 2009

Getting high quality links is crucial if you want high rankings on Google for competitive keywords. Links from old and reputable high authority sites work best. Unfortunately, it’s often not easy to get links from high authority websites.

authority linksYou can benefit indirectly from high authority sites through second-tier links

Suppose you have found a great authority site that has something to do with the topic of your website. The authority site links to many other websites but for some reason, the webmaster doesn’t want to link to your site.

If the high authority website doesn’t want to link to your site, ask the websites to which it links if they want to link to your site. If you get a link from these sites, the high authority website will still have a positive influence on your own site.

This is what you should do:

  1. Find a high quality, high authority website (it should be old, have many inbound links and good rankings on Google).
  2. Ask the high authority website for a link to your website.
  3. Visit the websites to which the high authority website links and ask the webmasters of these sites if they want to link to your site.

Of course, these second-tier links are not as valuable as links from the top-notch site. However, they are still very valuable and chances are that they are more valuable than many other links that you can get on the Internet.

How to contact second-tier link providers quickly and easily

When you’ve found a high quality website that links to other sites, try to get a link from the website first. If that doesn’t work, you can use the link builder in IBP to get second tier links as quickly as possible:

  1. Import the link page of the top-notch page in IBP’s link builder: IBP > Links > Add Sites > Import links
  2. IBP will import the links and get additional information for each website.
  3. Use IBP’s built-in email client and IBP’s built-in web browser to contact the websites. IBP will fill out the contact forms for you and it also offers email message templates that support variables. You should send individual and personal email messages to each webmaster.

If you want to find new high quality link partners, use the other commands in IBP’s Add Sites window.

IBP can find websites that link to your competitors, websites that contain certain keywords, blogs that are related to your category and much more.

If you want to get high rankings on Google, links from high quality websites are very important. The more links point to your website, the better. Optimize your web pages to tell Google for which keywords you want to be found. Then get the right links to show Google that your website is relevant to these keywords.

If you want to find out quickly if your web pages contain the right content and have the right links, analyze them with IBP’s top 10 optimizer. The analyzer will tell you in plain English how to change your web pages so that they will get top 10 rankings on Google.

Three easy steps to optimize your existing links

May 1st, 2009

Link building is one of the hardest and one of the most important things that you have to do if you want to get high rankings on Google. As it takes so much time to get inbound links, it is very important to make sure that the links to your website contain the right keywords.

The basics about keywords in text links and link bombs

Google tries to find a relation between the words that are used to link to your site and the content of your website. If many websites link to your website with the word “tomatoes” then Google’s algorithm will come to the conclusion that your website should be listed in the search results for the keyword “tomatoes”.

The keywords in the links to a website have been so important for Google that people managed to get websites to the top of Google’s search results for very obscure keywords. For example, some people started a scheme in which they asked their friends to link to the official website of George W. Bush with the keyword “miserable failure”.

The result was that George W. Bush’s website was #1 on Google for that keyword. In the meantime, Google has learned to deal with these so-called Google bombs and it’s not as easy to manipulate the results with the links as it has been.

What you should do if your website has no links

When you try to get links from other websites, you should make sure that they help you to increase your rankings for your keywords. That means that you must make sure that the links to your website contain your keywords.

At the same time, you must make sure that the links to your site don’t look like a Google bomb. You need links to your website that use keywords that are related to your site. If many websites link to you with a special keyword, that will increase your chances to be listed for that keyword. However, the keyword should be varied.

For example, if you want to be listed for “tomatoes”, the other websites should link to your site with link texts such as “tomatoes”, “delicious tomatoes”, “great tomatoes”, “tomatoes and other vegetables”, etc.

In addition, the web page to which the links point should also contain content about tomatoes. If the linked page contains the same keywords as the link texts then it is less likely that the links are part of a Google bomb.

A good way to start link building is to contact the websites that link to your competitors. To find the websites that link to your competitors, select “Add sites > Find websites that link to your competitors” in IBP’s link manager. IBP will find these websites for you and it will also help you to contact these sites.

What you should do if your website already has some links

If your website already has some links then you should make sure that the other websites link with the right link texts to your site. Do the following to optimize the links to your website:

  1. Select “Add sites > Find websites that already link to your site” in IBP’s link manager. IBP will import all websites that link to your site and that have been indexed by search engines.
  2. IBP will show the text that the other websites use to link to your website in a clearly arranged list. (By the way, the list also contains other information such as Google PageRank, IP address, Alexa TrafficRank, number of outbound links on the page, total number of links on the page, etc.)
  3. If the other website links to you with a unrelated words such as “click here” or “more information” then use the built-in contact tools in IBP’s link manager to quickly contact the webmaster of the other site and politely ask them to change the link text.

By optimizing your existing link texts, you’ll greatly increase the chances to be listed for the keywords that are relevant to your website.

Optimizing the links to your website is not enough. You must also optimize the content of your web pages to show Google that your website is relevant to your keywords. The links that point to your website should confirm that your website is really relevant for the keywords for which you optimized your pages.

Analyze your website to find out if the content of your website matches the links that point to your site.

The Jordan River Foundation (JRF), established in 1995 and Chaired by Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah, is a non-profit Jordanian Non -Governmental Organization (NGO). The vision of the foundation is to give power to society, especially women and children, and in turn to improve the quality of life in order to secure a better future for all Jordanians.

The Jordan River Foundation’s mission is to promote, in partnership with its stakeholders, the development of a dynamic Jordanian society by initiating and supporting sustainable social economic, and cultural programs that empower communities and individuals based on their needs and priorities. JRF has two main areas of concentration: protecting the rights and needs of children through the Jordan River Children Program, and empowering individuals and communities through the Community Empowerment Program.

JRF began its economic empowerment efforts by focusing on the improvement of women’s status in underprivileged areas. It achieved this goal by launching three income-generating handicraft projects the Bani Hamida Women’s Weaving project, the Jordan River Designs project and the Wadi Al-Rayon project.
The Bani Hamida Women’s Weaving Project was founded in 1985 by the Save the Children Foundation. In 1992, the project was handed over to the Bani Nomida Society for Development which was subsequently joined with JRF in 1997.

With aims to improve the living standard of Jordanian communities, especially women. JRF started the Bani Harnida Women’s Weaving project, which mainly provides employment opportunities for women of the twelve Bani Hamida villages by reviving the traditional weaving traditions of MakaWir area. These women help keep these traditions alive. They achieve this goal by significantly contributing to the betterment of the quality of life of their families.

Wooden spindles and floor looms are used to produce high quality pure wool rugs, runners, wall hangings. saddle bags. baskets, and coasters.

Candle’s project established in year 2002 in the MakaWir area employs four women full-time. It is a productive initiative that aims to provide job opportunities for the people of Bani Hamida by offering candle-making techniques. The handmade candles are available in different colors scents, and shapes.

The Jordan River Designs Project was founded in 1988 in Jabal AI-Nadif and Al-Mahata. It employs 16 women full-time and contracts another 500 women. Focusing on textile production inspired by the cultural heritage of these areas, the project gives women there the opportunity to increase their income through textile production and handicraft work. The project also includes high quality traditional and contemporary home furnishings, accessories, and small gift items.
