Kuwait football team smashed India’s Mohun Bagan with six clean goals Tuesday within Group D of the Asian Football Cup 2009.
Kuwait’s Syrian professional Jehad Al-Hussein scored a hat-trick, the first through a penalty kick in the 8th minute, and the other two in the 21st and 71st minutes.
Kuwait’s striker Faraj Laheeb added his name to the scoresheet with two goals, and midfielder Jarrah Al-Atiqi concluded the half-dozen victory in the 78th minute.
Kuwait defender Yaqoub Al-Taher received a red car in the last 10 minutes of the game and the team had to continue missing a player.
Kuwait now has 10 points under his belt, followed by Wahdat of Jordan by seven points, then Karama of Syria with six points. Mohun Bagan came third without any point.
Meanwhile, Al-Arabi football team of Kuwait lost to Lebanese Al-Mabarra 0-2, while Iraq’s Irbil was 3-0 victorious over Oman’s Al-Orouba.
Al-Arabi, despite the defeat, maintained his standing as top of the group with seven points.
The fifth round of the Asian Cup will be held next month, where Kuwait plays against Al-Karama, while Al-Arabi meets Al-Orouba.
