Micromax recently launched its first tablet in the segment called the Micromax Funbook for the Indian markets.
One of the cheapest tablets unveiled at a price of Rs. 6499/-, it comes with a pre-loaded Android Ice Cream Sandwich operating system.
Micromax, known for its affordable and worthy products for the Indian consumers, released the tablet in the entry level, offering a compelling tablet experience. The 7” tablet with mid-range specifications is a worthwhile option for everyone looking for entertainment on the go.
Thanks to its compact size, measuring 12.2 x 19.2 centimetres and weighing around 350 grams, the Micromax Funbook is comfortable to hold for longer durations.
The tablet has a 7-inch capacitive screen with a resolution of 800×480 megapixels. It is powered with a 1.2 Ghz Cortex A8 processor, dual graphics processor for multimedia, 512 MB RAM, 4 GB internal storage extendable upto 32 GB via micro SD card and a 0.3 MP front camera. The tablet has a mini USB port to connect pen drives and 3G dongles through an adapter, a 3.5mm audio port, HDMI port, microSD card slot and a charging port. For network connectivity, there is WiFi and 3G dongle support via USB.
The device can play 1080p videos, but the lower screen resolution hampers the full HD clarity. The Funbook can be connected to the TV screen via HDMI port and used as a media player. The tablet doesn’t have a rear camera and the 0.3 MP front camera is only good for video chatting.
The tablet is a decent performer, but its major drawback is the screen. Since the screen has a very low resolution, the display is dull and has poor viewing angles. Users would face difficulty in reading and browsing for longer durations.
To sum it up, the tablet has a decent build quality, is portable and gives good performance. The user experience on the Android Ice Cream Sandwich is amazing. If you’re looking for a cheap computing device for reading or browsing, the Micromax Funbook fits the bill. However, for a professional user, we wouldn’t recommend this tablet. But, at Rs. 6499/- the tablet gives you the full worth of your money. (Technology, MensXP.com)
