Educational holding group was formed in early 1982 with an authorized capital of KD 5 Million (US 17 Million dollars and reached up today a capital of KD 21 Million (US 71 Million dollars). In May 1993 Edu became the first educational company listed on Kuwait stock exchange and in January 1st 2005 Edu was transformed into a holding group.

The Institute of Banking Studies (IBS) was originally established as the "Banking Studies Center" in 1970 by an Amiri Decree, issued by the Amir (Ruler) of Kuwait. It was conferred the status of a Specialized Institute in 1982 by an amendment of the Amiri Decree.The Institute, today, is well reputed for its training, professional education, applied research and consulting activities in banking and finance. It also has established a distinct identity as the leading organization of its kind in the Gulf Co-Operation Council (GCC) Countries.

The department of Petroleum Engineering was founded in 1989. The graduated session was in 1994. Petroleum Engineering is the practical applied basic sciences to the development , recover, control, and evaluation of petroleum reservoir.

The First One Training and Consulting Company was established with the mission of providing advanced and modernized training capabilities for serving the technical needs of industrial and petroleum sectors in GCC Countries.

IIES will be known for its innovative and quality services to the Kuwait community and beyond. Outreach and retention strategies will be implemented in order to attract and retain professional staff members that reflect the diversity of the clients and communities we serve. Appropriate technology will be used to enhance our education and training programs and support services. Community and contract education will be responsive to the needs of residents, business, and industry.

The vision of Kuwait University is to develop human resources and to lead society has prompted its leadership to strive to transfer technology through the initiation of the College of Engineering and Petroleum in September 1975. The College began with three Departments: Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Electrical Engineering; a year later the Department of Chemical Engineering was added.

The vision of computer engineering department is to be recognized regionally and internationally as a provider of high-quality undergraduate and graduate education that emphasizes scholastic excellence, practical skills, and professional competency to become leaders in exploring new frontiers in computing. In addition, our vision is to conduct state-of-the-art research and deliver community services.
